Yolande Wrigley came to London from East Africa to the Royal College of Music with the pianist Bernard Roberts in 1972 and she won an exhibition at the Royal College while there. Her solo career has encompassed solo concerts and recitals in London as well as performances for music societies throughout the country and abroad including South Africa, Italy, France and Luxembourg.
She has broadcast regularly for the BBC and for several years played in the highly successful duo with Bernard Roberts.
It was in this combination, in a recital, that Yolande first visited Sheffield in 1984 (this was the first festival at Sheffield Crucible) and it was at one of these concerts (the Grosse Fuge for four hands) that Bernard Gregor-Smith and Yolande met for the first time.
Although Yolande and Bernard have independent careers their piano/cello duo has been highly acclaimed with, to date, 5 CDs and many broadcasts together and three highly successful Wigmore recitals
