Eleanor Ryan is from Wellington, New Zealand, where she graduated with a BMus (first class honours) in performance violin from Victoria University. In 2001 Eleanor moved to Manchester to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. She graduated with a Masters degree with distinction in September 2004 and since then has built up a busy freelance career as a performer and teacher. She has worked with many ensembles and orchestras across the UK including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, Opera North, Northern Ballet, Manchester Camerata, Welsh National Opera, Northern Sinfonia and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She also performs regularly as part of several string quartets. 

Thea Spiers studied violin with Maciej Rakowski at the Royal Northern College of Music from 2000 – 2004 and gained a first class honours degree. During this time, she led both the RNCM Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. She has since worked as a freelance player with the BBC Philharmonic, Halle, Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Sinfonia Viva, Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Northern Ballet, and now holds a position in the 1st violin section of Opera North.

Rebecca Spencer, after studying music at Birmingham University, went on to gain a PGCE with Specialist Strings from the Royal Northern College of Music and MMU. She then studied viola full time at the RNCM and gained a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction. She performs with a number of orchestral and chamber ensembles including Britten Pears Orchestra, Snowden Quartet and Equinox New Music Ensemble, and has recently performed at the Manchester International Festival. Rebecca also teaches Dalcroze Eurythmics at Junior RNCM and last year received the Jean Vincent Award from the Dalcroze Society of UK for her work in this area.

Elinor Gow graduated with first class honours degree as well as a Masters from the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with both Nicholas Jones and Karin Georgin. As well as working at Chethams School of Music, Elinor enjoys a busy career as a freelance cellist with orchestras such as BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera North. Recent concert engagements include Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme with Cranbrook Symphony Orchestra and Colin Matthews The Journey Ends Here for solo cello and ensemble with the RNCM New Ensemble in the presence of the composer.

Sarah Masters is from New Zealand, where she studied music and classics at the University of Canterbury and played in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra before moving to England in 2002 to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. She graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Music, and was also awarded the prestigious PPRNCM Diploma in chamber music as a member of wind quintet Ensemble 23.2. During her time at the RNCM Sarah also won first prize in the 2003 Granada Chamber Music competition as well as the 2004 Gilbert/Fell Solo Woodwind competition. Sarah now freelances with orchestras in the north west including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. Her teaching positions include Lancaster University.

Ruth Webb graduated from the RNCM in 2005 with a BMus(Hons), Postgraduate Diploma and was awarded the prestigious Professional Performance Diploma in both Accompaniment and Piano Duo. During her time at the RNCM she also won the R.J. Forbes Award for Accompaniment and the Bessie Cronshaw song cycle prize. Ruth now works as a freelance pianist, is a Staff Pianist at the RNCM, and teaches for Yorkshire Young Musicians and Junior RNCM..
