Matthew Hunt

Matthew HuntMatt began his musical education as a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral, later studying at the Guildhall School in London, and in Paris with Pascal Moragues.

Now much in demand as a soloist and chamber musician, Matt has performed at venues around Britain and internationally, including the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and St. John's, Smith Square in London, the Spoleto Festival, the Cite des Arts and the British Embassy in Paris, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid and the Centre for Performing Arts in Bombay. Invitations to participate in music festivals have taken him to the USA, Europe, Israel and Australia.

Matt has been a member of the Ulysses and Olivier Ensembles and is a regular participant at the IMS Prussia Cove 'Open Chamber Music' and Wye Valley Chamber Music festivals. As an orchestral musician, he has appeared with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Claudio Abbado’s Lucerne Festival Orchestra and as Guest Principal Clarinetist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Matt has also performed with the Belcea, Sacconi and Accorda Quartets, Ian Brown, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Emily Beynon and the Kungsbacka Trio.

Matthew has performed for broadcast and recording on Radio 3, Radio France, Swedish Radio, Decca and Canal. He also plays on many film soundtracks, and recently was to be heard playing the solo clarinet part on ”Pride and Prejudice”.
